Doing Our Bit For Charity
Local business helps send aid to refugees – Portman Logistics have teamed up with Estuary Logistics to help send out donations to Malta for refugee children.
Humanity Washed Ashore is the wonderful idea of Essex Mother of two, Elle Beadle.
Elle is a working mum of two young children and this is her story:
“The pictures we have all seen touched me so deeply that I decided to try and help in some way. I popped a Facebook page up in the hope that a few friends and family might help me gather some much-needed items and we could ship a suitcase or two, to some areas where the children most need our help. People are doing lots for Calais but there are no children there…I was willing to do whatever it took to get my ‘suitcase’ further afield….24 hours after posting the page we had 500 likes and our posts were reaching out to over 17,000 people! “
It was upon hearing about Elle’s kind hearted efforts via Facebook that Essex businessman, James Circus (Owner of Estuary Logistics) decided of offer Estuary’s services. Elle’s suitcase of donations was turned into a 20ft container which they will be providing and shipping free of charge with the help of Bury St Edmunds based, Portman Logistics, in order to help these poor children who have had to leave the life they knew behind in the search for safety.
Portman Logistics are delighted to provide the haulage of the container free of charge.
“We are so pleased to do our bit to help and have been blown away with the amount of donations that have already been received, I just hope the momentum continues!”Paul Oven, MD of Portman Logistics
Although Portman have offered to help, Humanity Washed Ashore with their aim to help these young refugees, they now need the donations to fill this container. Below is a list of key items that they are gratefully accepting:
